This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -The study investigated the influences of wood modification on the properties of Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) based Wood Polymer Composites (WPC). Various ethanolamines, L-arginine, pre-hydrolyzed and monomeric aminosilane, melamine and… acetic anhydride treatment were used to improve the adhesion between wood and polymer as well as water absorption behavior and resistance to basidiomycetes. Amine based treatments were chosen to change the nature of wood from acidic to basic in order to increase the compatibility with the acidic polymer. Treated and untreated wood flour, PVC and additives were dry blended in a mixer. The dry blend was compounded to granulate by counter-rotating twin screw extrusion and compression moulded into panels using a hydraulic press. Elemental analysis (nitrogen content) via gas chromatography showed expected fixation of aminosilane and melamine treatment. The nitrogen fixation of ethanolamine and L-arginine treated material were obviously reduced, whereas the amount and reactivity of the aminogroups influenced the fixation behavior. With increasing content of amino-groups and reactivity, the fixation was improved. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analyses revealed interactions between monoethanolamine and cell wall components. The amine based treatments changed the nature of wood from acidic to basic. An improvement of the interphase was detected via mechanical property testing. Tensile strength, elongation at break and unnotched impact strength of the composite were obviously increased by Larginine, ethanolamine and aminosilane treatments. It has to be considered that amine based treatments (monoethanolamine in this study) led to reduced thermal stability of the composite. Thermogravimetric analysis showed a decrease of onset temperature with increasing monoethanolamine content. Water repellence of the composite was improved by melamine, pre-hydrolyzed aminosilane and acetic acid treatment. Treated and untreated composites revealed high resistance against basidiomycetes. Due to the low initial moisture content and low weight loss of untreated and treated composites, no effect of the various modifications was distinguished. 88 pp. Englisch.

The first project focused on the dialkylzinc ad…ditions to unsaturated aldehydes. The reaction was proved to have bimetallic intermediates. The experimentally observed non-linear effect was addressed to the differences in stability of various zinc-ligand aggregates. Furthermore, the differences in regioselectivity between cinnamaldehyde and N-formylbenzylimine were traced back to the differences in the ¿-conjugation of both compounds. In contrary, the stereoselectivity of the reaction was controlled by the paracyclophane unit as well as by bulky substituents in the side-chain of the ligand. Based on these findings, a set of modifications for the ligand system were proposed and tested in silico. One of the compounds is expected to be superior to any previous catalysts. An important outcome from this study is the survey of methods used in calculations of reaction barrier heights. It is shown that economic DFT calculations, when extended by empirical dispersion corrections allow for the prediction of stereoselectivities. However, the prediction of the regioselectivities is a much more demanding task and only a consistent treatment of electron correlation can yield qualitative agreement with experimental findings. In this case, the computationally more expensive ¿ but even for large systems still applicable ¿ LPNO-CEPA/1 approach seems to be an efficient and reliable choice. 138 pp. Englisch.

The major component for these piezoelectric ceramics which contributes about 60 wt% is the element lead (Pb). It is a soft element which is classified as a heavy metal and is also toxic. It has been used from as far back as the second century B.C in Rome when lead (II)- acetate [(Pb(CH3COO)2] was used for making wine because of its sweet flavor. Its harmful effects have been known for a long time ago because most of the deaths at the time were traced to it. Children are more susceptible to Pb attacks than adults because their central nervous system is more vulnerable. Lead has the ability to attach itself strongly to sulfhydryl group on proteins and distort the enzymes and structural proteins. It can also cleave to the ribophosphate backbone of transfer Ribonucleic acid (tRNA) catalyticallywith no evidence of a threshold and mimics or competes with calcium in the body. Some of the consequences of lead poisoning for children include; behavioral disorders, learning difficulties, low intelligence quotient etc. while hypertension and renal failure are some of the consequences of acute lead poisoning. Some of the sources of exposure to lead include leaded dishware, lead workers, electronics, paints, cosmetics etc. Recent studies indicate that there is no threshold for lead but 10µg/dL is seen to be the acceptable blood levels. In response to this decline in soil fertility, as well high output prices, highland farmers have increa…singly turned to mineral fertilizers and high yielding varieties, and the rapid adoption of these has partly compensated for the underlying resource degradation process. However, these practices are not environmentally sustainable, and so long-term farm income levels could decline as a result.The objective of this studies is to explore the relationship between the decisions made within farm households and biophysical dynamics ¿ such as soil erosion and soil fertility change, in order to assess how the introduction of soil conservation practices affects soil fertility and farm household incomes, to identify possible constraints on the adoption of soil conservation practices, quantify trade-offs between sustainability and the income of farm households, and to appraise the possible policy options available in order to promote the adoption of soil conservation practices. The studies applied an integrated model using a software package called ¿Mathematical Programming-based Multi-Agent Systems¿ (MP-MAS) in combination processes manipulated using the Tropical Soil Productivity Calculator (TSPC). The model was calibrated to cover a 22.58 km2 catchment area in northwestern Vietnam that included 471 farm households, with each farm represented as an individual agent in the model. The results of the simulation showed that an increased use of mineral fertilizers improved crop yields and reduced soil nutrient losses. When soil conservation practices were included into the decision-making model, the area of land under these techniques remained low. The main constraints to the use of soil conservation practices identified included low crop yields and high labor requirements when compared to conventional practices, that is, those not using soil conservation techniques. 150 pp. Englisch.

Information on the performance of Bedouin sheep flocks under the given harsh production conditions are, however, missing. Centrifuges are, together with sedimentation tanks and filters, one of the most commonly employed devices for mechanical solid-liquid separation. Sedimentation uses as its driving force a mass force based on the different densities of the phases. In sedimentation tanks this driving force is gravitational force while in centrifuges it is centrifugal force. Filters, instead, make use of differential pressure as a driving force. The choice of which technique should be applied for a specific separation task depends on the properties of the mixture, the purpose of the separation, whether the thickening of the solid phase or the clarification of the liquid, and the available time and space. In this essay the author pursues three research objectives reg…arding dynamic capabilities. First, based on a literature review the author states that no appropriate dynamic capability concept exists that enables an empirical investigation of dynamic capabilities across industries, however, argues that such an investigation is possible, and outlines a first step to do so. The second research objective is focused on the value of dynamic capabilities. Using real option knowledge the author is able to outline a simple mathematical model. The results show that the value of a firm is not only given by the expected value, generated by the firm's resources in place, but also by the firm's options to react to environmental changes. Besides other externally given factors - like market development - the application of dynamic capabilities in terms of time has consequences on the expected firm value. The third research objective deals with the basic challenge of ambidextrous firms to achieve an optimal balance of exploitative and explorative activities with regard to market developments. Again, using real option knowledge the author is able to demonstrate that there exist defined points in time until when to maintain, stress, taper off and finally stop exploitative and explorative activities. Während modellbasiertes Testen bereits für Funktionstests häufig eingesetzt wird, bleiben HMI Tests meist noch manuell oder teil-automatisiert. Außerdem kann durch manuelles Testen eine systematische Testabdeckung nur sehr schwierig erreicht werden. Zahlreiche Forschungsarbeiten befassen sich mit dem GUI-Testen. Variabilität ist im Bereich der Software-Produktentwicklung ein immer beliebteres Forschungsthema. The Indonesian archipelago is divided into two ecological regions ¿ the Sundaland (Asian zoogeographical region) and Wallacea (Australasian zoogeographical region) by the Wallace line. This line runs between the islands Bali and Lombok. Indonesia also boasts of a rich marine biodiversity with 20 % of the world¿s coral reefs and is biogeographically a part of the coral triangle. Nearly 45 % of Indonesia is still covered by natural ecosystems and one of the reasons for this is that only 6000 out of the 17,000 islands are permanently inhabited. While Sumatra and Java are the most popular tourist destinations, Indonesia also has one of the world¿s longest coastlines with popular beaches and island resorts in Bali, Lombok and Bintan islands. The waters around these islands also provide excellent and economical diving opportunities, with a very high coral diversity as for example in Bunaken Marine National Park in the northern tip of Sulawesi island and the Raja Ampat area in west Papua which according to Conservation International claims to have the highest marine diversity. Indonesia also has a rich cultural diversity with most of these cultural sites listed as world heritage sites. Ecotourism in Indonesia can be used not only as a tool for conservation of biodiversity but also to promote sustainable development especially for the local communities. While promoting ecotourism, it should also be seen that nature and culture are not harmed or destroyed. Dies erfolgt auf der Basis der Frage nach dem Realen, d. h. der Rolle der Information als wirklichkeitsschaffendes Phänomen für den wahrnehmenden Menschen, und dem heutigen wissenschaftlichen Verständnis dazu.Vier Stränge naturwissenschaftlicher Erkenntnisbildung werden dabei verfolgt: Zunächst konzentrieren wir uns auf die Informationstheorie und auf die Thermodynamik. Wichtige Aspekte der Quantenphysik und des Quanten-Computing sowie schließlich Aspekte der Evolution und der Genetik bilden die beiden weiteren Stränge. Dabei berücksichtigen wir auch Denkansätze, die der Information als physikalisches Phänomen eine Bedeutung zuweisen.Die naturwissenschaftlichen Gesichtspunkte werden um einen Diskurs über relevante Aspekte von Statistik und Logik ergänzt. Statistik repräsentiert Information unter Einbeziehung des Aspekts Zufall und bildet in der Quantenphysik den Weg zur Beschreibung des Realen. Eine Ergänzung der klassischen Logik durch die sogenannte intuitionistische Logik basiert auf der Nachvollziehbarkeit von Aussagen bzw. der repräsentierten Information. Sie lassen sich daher in zahlreichen Oberflächengewässern und Trinkwässern nachweisen. Aus diesem Grund sollen die in die aquatische Umwelt gelangenden Mengen an PAPCs drastisch z.B. durch die gezielte biologische Reinigung von Abwasserteilströmen verringert werden. Der für die Reinigung EDTA-haltiger Abwässer eingesetzte Stamm BNC1 gehört zu den Alphaproteobakterien. Als nächster Verwandter wurde in der Literatur der Stamm Mesorhizobium loti angegeben. Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit BNC1 in die Gattung Chelativorans eingeordnet werden. Am Institut für Bioverfahrenstechnik der TU-Braunschweig konnte aus einer Mischkultur (MKA) der Stamm ANP11 isoliert werden, der PDTA als einzige Kohlenstoff, Stickstoff- und Energiequelle metabolisieren kann. Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit sind die von Baaß (2004) begonnenen Untersuchungen der PDTA-abbauenden Reinkultur ANP11 fortgesetzt und der postulierte Abbauweg geprüft worden. Weiterhin ist die Eignung der Mischkultur MKA für den praktischen Einsatz beim Abbau von PDTA überprüft und die Einflüsse von im Betrieb auftretenden möglichen Störfaktoren, z.B. Änderungen der physiologischen Bedingungen oder unterschiedliche Konzentrationen möglicher Abwasserinhaltsstoffe auf die Mikroorganismen, abgeschätzt worden. Die Prognose für eine biologische Reinigung PDTAhaltiger Abwasserteilströme mit Mikroorganismen der Mischkultur MKA ist günstig. Der genaue Abbauweg von PDTA durch den Stamm ANP11 konnte nicht vollständig geklärt werden, es wurden aber die Erkenntnisse über die zugehörigen Enzymsysteme vertieft. 118 pp. Deutsch.

Neuware -The study investigated the influences of wood modification on the properties of Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) based Wood Polymer Composites (WPC). Various ethanolamines, L-arginine, pre-hydrolyzed and monomeric aminosilane, melamine and ace…tic anhydride treatment were used to improve the adhesion between wood and polymer as well as water absorption behavior and resistance to basidiomycetes. Amine based treatments were chosen to change the nature of wood from acidic to basic in order to increase the compatibility with the acidic polymer. Treated and untreated wood flour, PVC and additives were dry blended in a mixer. The dry blend was compounded to granulate by counter-rotating twin screw extrusion and compression moulded into panels using a hydraulic press.Elemental analysis (nitrogen content) via gas chromatography showed expected fixation of aminosilane and melamine treatment. The nitrogen fixation of ethanolamine and L-arginine treated material were obviously reduced, whereas the amount and reactivity of the aminogroups influenced the fixation behavior. With increasing content of amino-groups and reactivity, the fixation was improved. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analyses revealed interactions between monoethanolamine and cell wall components. The amine based treatments changed the nature of wood from acidic to basic. An improvement of the interphase was detected via mechanical property testing. Tensile strength, elongation at break and unnotched impact strength of the composite were obviously increased by Larginine, ethanolamine and aminosilane treatments. It has to be considered that amine based treatments (monoethanolamine in this study) led to reduced thermal stability of the composite. Thermogravimetric analysis showed a decrease of onset temperature with increasing monoethanolamine content. Water repellence of the composite was improved by melamine, pre-hydrolyzed aminosilane and acetic acid treatment. Treated and untreated composites revealed high resistance against basidiomycetes. The first project focused on the dialkylzinc additi…ons to unsaturated aldehydes. The reaction was proved to have bimetallic intermediates. The experimentally observed non-linear effect was addressed to the differences in stability of various zinc-ligand aggregates. Furthermore, the differences in regioselectivity between cinnamaldehyde and N-formylbenzylimine were traced back to the differences in the ¿-conjugation of both compounds. In contrary, the stereoselectivity of the reaction was controlled by the paracyclophane unit as well as by bulky substituents in the side-chain of the ligand. Based on these findings, a set of modifications for the ligand system were proposed and tested in silico. One of the compounds is expected to be superior to any previous catalysts. An important outcome from this study is the survey of methods used in calculations of reaction barrier heights. It is shown that economic DFT calculations, when extended by empirical dispersion corrections allow for the prediction of stereoselectivities. However, the prediction of the regioselectivities is a much more demanding task and only a consistent treatment of electron correlation can yield qualitative agreement with experimental findings. Lead has the ability to attach itself strongly to sulfhydryl group on proteins and distort the enzymes and structural proteins. It can also cleave to the ribophosphate backbone of transfer Ribonucleic acid (tRNA) catalyticallywith no evidence of a threshold and mimics or competes with calcium in the body. Some of the consequences of lead poisoning for children include; behavioral disorders, learning difficulties, low intelligence quotient etc. while hypertension and renal failure are some of the consequences of acute lead poisoning. However, these practices are not environmentally sustainable, and so long-term farm income levels could decline as a result.The objective of this studies is to explore the relationship between the decisions made within farm households and biophysical dynamics - such as soil erosion and soil fertility change, in order to assess how the introduction of soil conservation practices affects soil fertility and farm household incomes, to identify possible constraints on the adoption of soil conservation practices, quantify trade-offs between sustainability and the income of farm households, and to appraise the possible policy options available in order to promote the adoption of soil conservation practices.The studies applied an integrated model using a software package called 'Mathematical Programming-based Multi-Agent Systems' (MP-MAS) in combination processes manipulated using the Tropical Soil Productivity Calculator (TSPC). The model was calibrated to cover a 22.58 km2 catchment area in northwestern Vietnam that included 471 farm households, with each farm represented as an individual agent in the model.The results of the simulation showed that an increased use of mineral fertilizers improved crop yields and reduced soil nutrient losses. When soil conservation practices were included into the decision-making model, the area of land under these techniques remained low. First, based on a literature review the author states that no appropriate dynamic capability concept exists that enables an empirical investigation of dynamic capabilities across industries, however, argues that such an investigation is possible, and outlines a first step to do so. The second research objective is focused on the value of dynamic capabilities. Using real option knowledge the author is able to outline a simple mathematical model. The results show that the value of a firm is not only given by the expected value, generated by the firm's resources in place, but also by the firm's options to react to environmental changes. Besides other externally given factors - like market development - the application of dynamic capabilities in terms of time has consequences on the expected firm value. The third research objective deals with the basic challenge of ambidextrous firms to achieve an optimal balance of exploitative and explorative activities with regard to market developments. Again, using real option knowledge the author is able to demonstrate that there exist defined points in time until when to maintain, stress, taper off and finally stop exploitative and explorative activities. This line runs between the islands Bali and Lombok. Indonesia also boasts of a rich marine biodiversity with 20 % of the world's coral reefs and is biogeographically a part of the coral triangle. Nearly 45 % of Indonesia is still covered by natural ecosystems and one of the reasons for this is that only 6000 out of the 17,000 islands are permanently inhabited. While Sumatra and Java are the most popular tourist destinations, Indonesia also has one of the world's longest coastlines with popular beaches and island resorts in Bali, Lombok and Bintan islands. The waters around these islands also provide excellent and economical diving opportunities, with a very high coral diversity as for example in Bunaken Marine National Park in the northern tip of Sulawesi island and the Raja Ampat area in west Papua which according to Conservation International claims to have the highest marine diversity. Indonesia also has a rich cultural diversity with most of these cultural sites listed as world heritage sites. Als Beitrag zur Reduzierung der Treibhausgasemissionen soll laut Bundesministerium für Umwelt, Naturschutz und Reaktorsicherheit (BMU) der Anteil der erneuerbaren Energien am Bruttoendenergieverbrauch im Jahr 2020 bei mindestens 18 % liegen und danach stufenweise auf 60 % bis zum Jahr 2050 erhöht werden. Über Stadtwerke oder Bioenergiedörfer können Städte und Gemeinden selbst erneuerbare Energie erzeugen und damit zum geplanten Ausbau der erneuerbaren Energien beitragen. In dieser Arbeit stehen Bioenergiedörfer im Fokus der Untersuchung. Nach einer kurzen Einführung werden in Kapitel zwei die Rahmenbedingungen der Untersuchung in dieser Arbeit beschrieben. Dabei wird das Konzept von Bioenergiedörfern dargestellt, Bioenergie im Kontext der Energieversorgung in Deutschland betrachtet, der Substrateinsatz und Flächenbedarf der Bioenergieerzeugung in Deutschland aufgezeigt und die gesetzlichen Rahmenbedingungen der Bioenergieerzeugung zusammenfassend erläutert. Im dritten Kapitel wird ein lineares gemischt-ganzzahliges Optimierungsproblem für Nahwärmenetze ohne Berücksichtigung der Energieerzeugungsanlage formuliert. In Kapitel vier werden die technischen Grundlagen der Biogasproduktion erläutert, landwirtschaftliche Biogasanlagen näher betrachtet, die Logistik der Biomassebereitstellung untersucht, Kapitalwerte für Biogasanlagen berechnet und dafür eine Sensitivitätsanalyse durchgeführt. Die Kapitalwerte werden auf Basis der Einspeisevergütungen des EEG 2009 und des EEG 2012 und in Abhängigkeit der zur Verfügung stehenden Biomasse berechnet. In Kapitel fünf wird das Optimierungsmodell für Nahwärmenetze um eine Biogasanlage als Energieerzeugungsanlage erweitert. Bei der Anwendung des Modells auf ein Beispieldorf mit 44 Haushalten werden unterschiedliche Anschlussbereitschaften der Dorfbevölkerung an das Nahwärmenetz und unterschiedliche Biomasseangebote der ortsansässigen Landwirte berücksichtigt.
