The reason is, quite simply, the cost; the expenses of paying wages, providing accomodation, and funding a large rearing programme, are prohibitive. Rare are the large estates which employ a team of keepers in the Edwardian tradition. This book supplies the solution to the problem: based on the author's experience of building up a neglected Fen shoot, it reveals how the keen game shooter can, at minimum cost, remedy the situation; how he and a team of enthusiasts can buckle to and run their own game shoot, either by improving an existing shoot, or by taking on an area of land, or a farm, and building up the game population.
