In 1990, Common Ground, the environmental and arts charity initiated their first project on local distinctiveness with the sculptor Peter Randall-Page (b.1954). The project spanned 6 years, and was documented by the photographer Chris Chapman. This book documents the making of five sculptures and a garden in an around the Teign Valley near the village of Drewsteignton on the edge of Dartmoor. The works were made by Randall-Page in and for an area that he knew intimately. Made from local materials and embedded in the landscape without signs or plaques, they have a powerful resonance with place.
