The chronology of the pamphlet, publeshed in 1875, combines events from several trips, making the narrative a bit more interesting and confusing. Illustrations in the text are from his original article as it appeared in Scribner's Monthly, volume 10, 1875, and other articles. Proceeds of the sale of this book benefit environmental education and restoration.
