In this paper, a new jump diffusion process isproposed and estimated that is able to incorporate the Swiss electricity price properties.Building on this model, a Monte Carlo simulation is applied that allows one to price differing electricity derivatives that are embedded in structured products. Using the option pricing results, the feasibility and attractiveness of a defined range of structured products is investigated. In order to include the special properties of electricity, new structured productsare developed that are more appropriate as risk management tools. In this context, Simon (2007) points out that, as any other system, an organization primarily aims at securing its survival. As an organization is constituted by the communication between its members it has to remain competitive in order to keep the ability to pay its employees without whom communication would not take place. Only if this fundamental need is secured, the focus can shift to concerns going beyond the prior goal of staying alive (pp. 32-33). In this term paper, I will take a closer look at the first subject, namely growing up with a divided inheritance, and memoir we read - 'The Color of Water' by James McBride. To analyse several different issues that are raised in this book, I will compare it to another memoir, which also deals with the subject of growing up as a part of two different cultures. 'Dreams from My Father' was written by the senator-elect from Illinois Barack Obama in the year 1995 and describes his life as the son of a white mother and a black father - just as James McBride. Firstly, I will discuss the theoretical conditions of the memoir as a genre on the basis of the three questions given above. Afterwards, I will go over to the two memoirs that shall be analysed. Since both authors grew up in almost the same time of racial discrimination a short introduction on the historical background of the two memoirs will be given. This is followed by a detailed analysis on different issues that are treated in the two memoirs: The relationship between Barack and his father compared to the relationship of James and his mother, as well as how the subjects of race and identity as they are experienced by the two authors. The sensation novel is a phenomenon originating in the 1860s and was mostly written for a great public. The aim was to evoke an intense as well as rather shocking response and strong feelings by dealing with subjects like mystery inside the domestic sphere. The sensation novel also went against common standards and taboos concerning class boundaries and the gender roles with actually no moral or didactic purpose. This term paper does not only deal with the novel 'Lady Audley's Secret' as a sensation novel but examines it - together with Braddon's other novel 'Aurora Floyd' - in the context of Victorian Femininity. Firstly, I will give a short overview of the historical background of the so-called 'Victorian Era' and a more detailed view of 'Victorian Femininity'. Since the focus of this term paper is on femininity and the role of women, I will not go further into economics and expansion during the 'Victorian Era', but portray political events which were important for women at that time. This is followed by a description of the role of 19th century women in the domestic and public sphere, as well as an insight into education and work. Subsequently, the development of this gender role throughout this time is brought up in relation to an essay by Eliza Lynn Linton called 'The Girl of the Period'. Secondly, a short overview over Mary Elizabeth Braddon's life and work is presented and reflected for it is rather uncommon for the Victorian Era in which she lived. Afterwards the plots of the two novels 'Lady Audley's Secret' and 'Aurora Floyd' are presented and analysed in regard to traditional features of the detective novel and the idea of mystery in the novel. The following work would like to approach this phenomenom from the cultural point of view and follow the question, which cultural bases rule in the Chinese society. This should be tried by a short representation of the most important schools of thought in China, which cannot happen finally because of the compendiousness of the work.
