Using data…from two knowledge-management systems operated by the company, Semanta, s.r.o. we studied the day-to-day interactions of employees using the system and identified the important drivers of system adoption. We began by studying the effect of co-workers' collaborative activities on knowledge creation within the system. It was found that they had a positive and significant impact upon overall knowledge creation and thus on adoption. Secondly, we explored how the newly defined concept of gamification could help determine and encourage an increase in knowledge creation. The use of gamification tools, such as the 'Hall of Fame' page, turned out to have significant influence in the adoption process. Thirdly, we examined how users continually seek knowledge within the system and how asking for missing information and being supplied with answers has an impact on adoption rates. It was shown that the quicker the responses and the more experts dealing with requests the greater the impact on knowledge base adoption. Finally, we showed that the size and character of the company deploying the knowledge management system does not influence the adoption drivers. This paper represents an effort to fill the literature gap surrounding effective knowledge-base adoption in an intra-company environment. Moreover, as far as we know, it represents the first attempt to estimate the relationship between gamification concepts and knowledge-base adoption not only in the Czech Republic but also worldwide. 96 pp. Englisch.

Trask believes that settler organizations, such as the JACL, intentionally obscure the issue of justice for Hawaiians by stirring up hatred against native leaders. She bases her analysis of the question of Asian/Japanese 'alleged support' of the sovereignty movement on the JACL's reaction to her sister Mililani Trask's claim that Senator Daniel Inouye controlled the sovereignty process by giving available funds only to his favorites, who are against Native Hawaiian sovereignty. The JACL, the Democratic Party, and the Honolulu dailies, so Trask, teamed up to attack her sister back, thereby obscuring her whole analysis of the real issue. The present paper examines what enables the speaker to envision the Second Coming and how his vision is linked to the Biblical model. How is the breakdown of the world depicted and what are revealed to be its possible causes.The poem's title 'The Second Coming' makes reference to the Biblical reappearance of Christ, as prophesied in Matthew 24 and the Book of Revelation of St. John in the New Testament. According to Christian belief, Christ will return to conquer Satan and the forces of evil, before presiding over a thousand-year reign of peace on Earth. True to the Biblical pattern, the speaker of the poem envisions the breakdown of the present state of the world and the dawn of a new age. He adds, however, a sinister twist to the idea of the Second Coming, suggesting that the return of Christ might just as well become the arrival of the Antichrist.I will consequently go on to conclude that the poem presents the world as a perfectly balanced system of two opposing forces or principles such as: centrifugal vs. centripetal force in physics, democracy vs. aristocracy in politics, Christ vs. Antichrist in religion etc. Whenever this opposition is completely cancelled, chaos will be its consequence. All this is, however not to say that chaos sounds for the final phase of existence. On the contrary, it denotes but a phase of transition, as the world is subject to constant change and history moves in a cyclic pattern. Chaos can hence be described as being part of a greater system.I will proceed in a more or less chronological order starting with the 1st stanza where the speaker describes the present state of the world. The focus will be put here on the omnipresence of chaos and its relation with the laws of physics, political systems and the divine judgement.The second main part of the paper will deal with the 2nd stanza which presents the speaker's future vision of the Second Coming. The detailed description of the 'Antichrist' in the poem will be compared to the depiction of Christ in the Bible. Revolutionizing the once-dominated 'single-static entity' conceptualization, Gardner initially (1983) proposed his theory of Multiple intelligences (MI) that encompasses seven different areas of intelligence (verbal-linguistic, logical-mathematical, musical-rhythmic, visual-spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal, and intrapersonal), and later on added the eighth and ninth areas (naturalist and existential) in 1999. Based on the theory of Multiple Intelligences (MI), a person may be viewed as intelligent in any of these areas, and the identification of the dominant intelligence type has proven to have pedagogic implications. McKenzie's MI questionnaire (1999) is one of the established tools to identify the typology of intelligence. The present study aims to validate the Persian version of the MI Inventory (questionnaire) proposed by McKenzie (1999). This instrument provides an objective measure of MI. This paper describes the validation exercise of the abovementioned questionnaire that involved 173 pre-university students of both genders in Tehran. In addition, the variables gender and discipline were also considered in this study. The findings of the study indicate that overall, the Persian version of the questionnaire has a high reliability. In addition, the results show a moderate to high relationship between gender and MI profiles of the students. 20 pp. Englisch.

He likes to point out the many marvels of the living world. For Lawrence, humanity's salvation depends on, among other things, the healthy, physical relationship between man and woman. In 'The Woman Who Rode Away' Lawrence dramatises the relation between two diametrically opposed cultures: the Western and the Amerindian. The story of the woman who escaped from her ranch at once highlights and subverts the preconceived ideas about the Red Indians' 'savage' (48) culture and cult. Yet, in filigree, the narrator of the story subtly arouses the reader's 'willing suspension of disbelief' and awe by conferring respectability on the white woman's self-sacrifice for the sake of the Red Indians' sun. In a masterly 'tour de force,' Lawrence uses this highly dramatised narrative to serve his own overarching assertion that Western civilisation, as a universal ideal, has no future. The White Man's Burden as an imperialist predicament has turned the world into a nightmarish place prone to global warfare and strife.
