Seit Mitte der 2000er Jahre etablierte sich Niedling als Konzeptkünstler und kollaboriert im Zuge dessen seit 2006 mit Schri…ftsteller Ingo Niermann. Dabei stellt die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Pyramidenberg als individuelle Begräbnisstätte ein strukturgebendes Denkmodell seiner künstlerischen Arbeit dar. Zusammen mit Niermann produzierte Niedling 2010 den Dokumentarfilm The Future of Art. Darin entwickelt Niermann die Idee eines Pyramidenbergs als Kunstwerk, das zugleich die individuelle Bestattungsstelle eines Sammlers ist. Am Ende der Dreharbeiten übertrug Niermann die Idee an Niedling, der sie seitdem in zuweilen radikalen Kunstprojekten weiterführt. .
