This book examines this a…ssumption and its effect on the quality of the beta estimate of the CAPM. In the CLRM, beta is a point estimate of the covariance between the market return and the return of a particular asset. It is, therefore, a constant. When heteroscedasticity is factored in, variances vary with time, hence beta varies with time as well. Several econometric models have been proposed to model time-varying betas. The most common model is the GARCH model, which forms the basis of this book. The data used for analysis here is first tested for 'ARCH effects' to determine whether the GARCH model can be used to estimate it. The test shows that models of the ARCH type can be fitted on the data. A multivariate GARCH model of the Diagonal BEKK type is then fitted on the monthly returns of the 20 companies that form the NSE 20-share index from 1St January 2013 to 31st December 2016. 56 pp. Englisch.

This technique would put the ACL graft in a more anatomic position giving improved clinical a…nd radiological results compared to the traditional transtibial method. We challenged our approach to the anteromedial technique, the one with better results claims, but also has its risks and hazards. We believe that the current modified technique may solve the problem of vertical graft positioning, widely known for the TTT. It may also overcome the challenges of the anteromedial technique, namely the difficulty in obtaining a clear view of the lateral wall of the notch, the horizontal trajectory of wire drilling and reaming that increases the risk of articular cartilage damage and posterior cortical breakthrough. Results confirmed the causative relationship between instruction and improvement in communication skills; syllabi analysis pointed to very low extent of IE inclusion and are generally overlooked. Meanwhile, interviews with the teachers revealed their advocacy for the IE inclusion due to its merits: competence in the macro skills of language; utilization of an eclectic mix of techniques; and adherence to the precepts of motivational model for learning, communicative language teaching, and reflective practice in teaching. 72 pp. Englisch.

With the rapid rural-to-urban migration, Nairobi is experiencing a steep rise in the demand for housing. There is a demand for 200,000 units against a supply of only 30,000 to 40,000 units annually. In this study, P. Wanjira Chege looks at the factors that affect housing supply in Nairobi County. Her study focus is construction costs, financing costs and inflation rates. The target population is the residential housing market of Nairobi from 1970 to 2016. A descriptive research design that involves a quantitative approach is employed in the methodology. The results of this study indicate that there is a negative relationship between construction costs, financing costs and housing supply and a positive relationship between inflation rate and housing supply in Nairobi County, Kenya. 64 pp. Englisch.

The study investigates the direct impact of mining/quarrying on Mpape residents and on the sustainability of their livelihoods using the Sustainable Livelihoods Framework as its theoretical framework. It also looked at the visibility of government's regulation of the activities of quarry companies and implementation of corporate social responsibility. It then makes clear recommendations for government and quarrying companies. The incidence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) has increased significantly in the past few years, thanks to the huge rise in the number of people suffering from diabetes mellitus and systemic hypertension, which are major risk factors for CKD. Association of CKD with sensorineural hearing loss has been described by several studies in the past, although the basis for this has not been clearly established. Antigenic similarity between basement membranes of glomeruli and stria vascularis of the inner ear may explain this association to some extent. Use of ototoxic drugs, electrolyte disturbances, and hypertension has been implicated in various studies. Haemodialysis has also been reported to contribute to hearing loss in CKD. Studies on the impact of haemodialysis have produced contradictory results, with a sizeable number reporting that haemodialysis plays role in hearing loss associated with CKD. 76 pp. Englisch.

Later we applied to that data more sophisticated methods of statistical analysis, such as decision tree and discriminate analysis, and these…advanced methods allowed us to elaborate new powerful diagnostic tests for diagnosis of dystonia with increased plasma level of 5-HTP beeing extremely sensitive and specific sign of dystonia. We are telling of these new results in the first chapter of the second edition of the book. In the first edition we published results of PET study with 18 - FDG of brain of patients with dystonia and essential tremor (ET). The results were presented in semi quantitative form of percentage of change of glucose metabolism, without comparison with the healthy control. The calculation has been done by means of software package SPM2, and that study revealed decrease of glucose metabolism in different brain areas in all patients, and failed to detect any difference between the dystonia and the ET. In the second chapter we tell of new PET calculation method of Z - score, that by means of comparison with the healthy, allowed us to detect difference between dystonia and ET. 72 pp. Englisch.

Echocardiographic variables such as left ventricular posterior wall thickness, interventricular septal thickness, LA diameter, Ejection fraction, fractional shortening, LVIDd, LVIDs were taken preoperatively and at 1st and 3rd month of postoperative values. The mean age of all group was 12.60±12.09, male were 13 (54.2%) and female were 11 (45.8%). Echocardigraphic evaluation was done in different age group. There were significant changes observed in left ventricular posterior wall thickness, intervantricular septal thickness, LA diameter, ejection fraction, fractional shortening, LVIDd, LVIDs in 1st and 3rd month of postoperative values in different age group. 60 pp. Englisch.
