This study was aimed at assessing wood fuel demand and supply management practices in Debark Town. To achieve this objective, descriptive research design was used. The data was collected from a randomly selected sample of 167 urban households and purposive interviews of 5 governmental officials, 10 wood fuel sellers as well as 30 peri- urban farmers. The survey was administered using questionnaires and interviews to obtain quantitative and qualitative data. Wood fuel supply was estimated at established check points to measure the amount of wood fuel inflow into the town. The findings revealed that eucalyptus globules and olea africana contributed the lion's share of fire wood and charcoal consumption respectively. Eucalyptus globules was the most preferred tree species for tree growing to Consumption of wood fuel above supply implies the existence of wood fuel crisis which in turn leads to social , economical and environmental impacts. 72 pp. Englisch.

The sample size was 1493.The decision to indulge in risky sexual behaviour is modeled as a choice model and estimated using a probit model. Among other things, the study shows that income, wealth status, HIV and AIDS knowledge, are insignificant in determining risky sexual behaviour. However, perception on condom uses, education, and employment status are found to be predictors of risky sexual behaviour. The programme which was initially start…ed as pilot project has now become a movement throughout the country over the period of two decades, covering around 10 crore poor households. Notwithstanding the remarkable progress, geographically there has been a skewed development of SHG-BLP. There is wide regional disparity both in terms of the spread of SHGs and amount of loan outstanding to these groups. In order to overcome unbalanced geographical growth, NABARD in 2005 identified 13 priority states accounting for 70% of India s poor for special efforts. However, even after 5 years of special efforts not much have been achieved. In fact the share of these 13 states together in number of SHGs credit linked with banks declined marginally from 39 percent during 2004-05 to 36 percent in 2009-10. The study used a time-varying score card to establ…ish the corporate governance index of seven financial institutions registered on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange. The study included a more complete set of governance mechanisms including firm ownership, board independence, shareholder activism, and the audit function effectiveness, availability of sub-committees and the effectiveness and liability of the governing board. The study established that, yes, the relationship between corporate governance and firm performance is positive. It also established that for a percentage change in corporate governance mechanism put in place by the firm over the years, firm performance changed by a higher margin. Amongst other recommendations, it was recommended that firms give enough platform to minority shareholders in their shareholder meetings and they must improve on accurate and timely information dissemination. 108 pp. Englisch.
