The objective of the study was to assess the role and effectiveness of traditional knowledge and institutions in forest management in Rungwe District, Tanzania. Objective (random) sampling was used to select three forest reserves managed traditionally and village for data collection. Most of management systems used by the government and government agencies in the management of forests resources are adopted from traditional institutions, however, their management is not effectives compared to the traditional institutions. It recommended that strength of traditional institutions in forest management will be incorporated into forest policy for effective management of this resource in Tanzania.

On the other hand, the residues of pesticides in the fruits are a problem for its commercialization. In this work we analyze extracts of Euphorbi…a helioscopia against the growth of Penicillium digitatum. This fungus is responsible for the green rot and it produces great losses in the citrus fruits, being so important this crop for the Mediterranean region. Our work compares the effect of leaf-fruit and stem-root extracts of Euphorbia helioscopia on the growth of Penicillium digitatum in in vitro and lemon fruit trials. The results show inhibition of the fungus by the presence of the vegetal extracts which raises the possibility of using them as new biorrational fungicides. 52 pp. Englisch.
