After studying at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, Tew joined the Indian Civil Service so that he could fish for mahseer. He stayed in Burma for twenty-five years, returning to fish for trout in England. This book offers a unique insight into angling during and between two world wars and is enhanced by additional commentary, from his late daughter, the respected anthropologist, Professor Mary Douglas (1921-2007)."
