Geoffrey Potocki de Montalk was born in Auckland, New Zealand, moved to England in 1926 and settled in France in 1949. In 1932 he was "arrested after attempting to publish a manuscript of erotic translations of works by Rabelais and Verlaine, with three short bawdy verses of his own. The charge was 'obscene libel'. he was sentenced to six months in prison. Aldous Huxley. later funded the purchase of Potock's first printing press." [per Wikipedia].
