The induced chemiluminescence (C…L) signals were acquired, graphed and interpreted to give a clear statistical view about WBCs kinetics and interactions. For irradiation experiments a typical Geiger-Muller (G.M.) tube counter was used and calibrated using standard dose rate meters. For mice irradiation, a heavy shielded radioactive source brought and identified. Using the previously calibrated devices, exposure rates and absorbed dose profile were established. Two BALB/c mice groups were used, a control shielded from radiation, and irradiated was put for the calculated period to accumulate the dose. Mice were dissected for blood and bone marrow collection. Assays were done concerning viability, total and differential blood counting, CL assays were done firstly on whole blood to verify WBCs total reactive activity, reaction time, peak activity and secondly on bone marrow to evaluate the total reaction time, peak activity values, and the reactive activity per micro-liter unit. 124 pp. Englisch.

Qualitative approach has been used to explore and describe an overall picture of this circumstance. Key informant interviews were carried out in Stockholm… and Västerås cities, using snowball sampling which is conducted when the researcher's access to participants is limited and accesses through contact information or a social network that is provided by other informants. Khat is illegal in Sweden. Yet, findings of this study shows that in Sweden neighborhoods with growing Somali populations have significant number of khat users. Perceptions of these users vary from one user to another; some perceive that it is important to frame the khat in the community not as a drug problem but as a wider public health issue, while others argued that khat use has negative impact on integration issues in the new host country. Meanwhile, significant numbers of khat users view it as a social convention, promoting harmony and providing a forum for collective decision making. Generally, perception of users confirmed two major concerns; health issues and frequent familial discords attributed to usage of khat. 76 pp. Englisch.

This study therefore seeks to investigate the nexus between marketing cost and bank performance. The study is based on a sample of 8… out of 13 commercial banks in Jordan covering a five-year period from 2006 to 2010. The selected banks were identified based on the data availability. In this study, the role of marketing activities is related to bank performance in terms of deposits from customer, loans, profit after taxes, return on assets and return on equity. Data collected were analyzed using the Pearson Correlation Matrix and Simple Linear Regression. The results show a significant positive relationship exists between marketing cost and Jordanian bank performance based on deposits from customer, loans and profits after taxation and a negative relation exists between marketing cost and bank performance in light of return on assets. 84 pp. Englisch.

There were some attempts to integrate general relativity with the micro world through introducing Torsion. In general relativity the torsion tensor, which is anti-symmetric part of affine connection vanishes. The attempt was to assume a non-vanishing anti-symmetric part of connection, which lead to introducing Torsion tensor which can be coupled to intrinsic spin (angular momentum) of matter. On the other hand, both Sciama and Kibble, 1960, worked on this idea independently, they come up with the same results which lead to publishing a new theory called ECSK theory. In addition, it ai…ms to explore how these challenges might affect the decisions of female accountants to stay or to progress in the accountancy sector. This research is based on an extensive literature review and semi-structured interviews with a sample of accounting women from different sizes of firms in the commercial private sector. The findings show that the interviewees share with other women around the word a certain amount of difficulty in reaching the highest levels of hierarchy, especially with the long hours involved in working in their jobs. However, unlike some female accountants elsewhere in the world, they live in a society where they are viewed negatively, since they work in a mixed environment business where there is only a segregated education culture and there is no choice in taking on part-time work, both of which are also considered as key barriers. The results of this study present new interpretations of female accountants in Saudi Arabia. 64 pp. Englisch.

Lead smelters which were located in the GC area were re-located in industrial areas outside of the urban area of the GC, the lead emissions are greatly decreased. It was found that lead smelters are the main source of lead pollution in the GC area. The second main source of lead pollution is the Mazout combustion (heavy fuel oil). The rest of sources (Cement factories, copper foundries, and lead manufacturing battery factories) had minor effect on lead pollution in the GC area.Due to the efforts made by the Government regarding the re-location of lead smelters from the residential areas to designated industrial areas, the lead emissions was remarkably decreased. For Y 2010 and 1999 comparison of data, the total percentage of decrease is 98%. Remediation of Lead smelter sites was completed and health risk on the residents of neighborhood was decreased. 96 pp. Englisch.

They are promising biodegradable and biocompatible molecules that could be produced by a wide range of organisms. They can form structures called micelles that could encapsulate insoluble molecules and increase their bioavailability and solubility; such as drugs. In this project, the biosurfactant sophorolipid was used to enhance the solubility and delivery of an anticancer drug, camptothecin. The data obtained showed the significant effect of sophorolipids in which they maximized the solubilisation capacity of pluronic micelles. All in all, scientists are continuously searching for biocompatible molecules that could solve the never ending problems of drug delivery, sophorolipids should be considered in future pharmaceutical applications because they meet the search criteria perfectly. 108 pp. Englisch.
