It employs an on-site self-completion questionnaire survey and a follow-up semi-structured interview carried out in a university in Central China. The study adopts the conceptual perspective of 'choice and constraint', which means that male and female final year undergraduates are able to make their own choices towards employment expectations; however, their choices of employment expectations are limited by a number of constraints. Empirical studies find that there are gender differences in employment expectations. This study further reveals the influence of gendered economic roles, experienced or perceived sex discrimination in China's graduate labour market job preferences and parents' expectations on those gender differences in employment expectations. 252 pp. Englisch.

Kinship term systems were first studied scientifically in the latter half of…the 19th century by the American anthropological school, whose scholars researched the culture of inhabitants of the North American continent, often drawing on linguistic data from many Indian tribes. This book presents an analysis of structural and semantic peculiarities of kinship terms in forty languages belonging to ten families. It suggests general typological classification of kinship terms and semantic classification of reciprocal kinship terms. A number of typological generalizations - universals - of a probabilistic nature are formulated regarding the structure and semantics of kinship terms. 228 pp. Englisch.

The research extends to English and American literary traditions in order to account for the ways the writer's version of…existentialism is interpreted in diverse contexts, generating alternative interpretations of his peculiar philosophy. Furthermore it demonstrates the ways in which textual indeterminacy and the nebulous notion of the Other underpin Gombrowicz's text of existence. The final chapter undertakes to pair up the process of translation with the liminal act of participation. The translations of Gombrowicz's selected works are juxtaposed to argue the extent to which his master tropes (fail to) preserve their otherness when translated into English, as well as to test the ways translation as a self-reflexive act responds to the otherness of texts determined by different hermeneutic conditions. This study intends to fill, if partially, some lacunae on the map of Gombrowicz's Translation Studies and to inspire further debates on the related aspects of postmodern existentialism of his works. 210 pp. Englisch.

La prépondérance des narrateurs masculins dans sa prose suggère la supériorité du masculin; ceci… se reflète aussi sur le plan du contenu de son oeuvre, car les personnages féminins sont plutôt marginalisés et relégués à la sphère domestique. Pour élucider cette contradiction, l'analyse détaillée des textes rend compte des différentes stratégies que l'auteure emploie pour représenter les personnages et leurs relations sexuées.
