The bottom of the first part of the book are stained slightly but the binding is intact and there are no tears. THis book is an autobiography of the author's life that started in Humboldt County, California in 1932. He wrote the story primarily for his childrren and he tells of growing up and relates all the successes and failures of his life as he remembers them. Proceeds from the sale of this book benefit environmental restoration and education.

Also included is a newspaper article from 1929 about the author, 15 at the time, and his new book, Your Soldier Boy Samuel. The subject was his grandfather.
