Per the jacket blurb, the original production of "Borstal Boy," at the famed Abbey Theatre in Dublin in 1967, had "the longest consecutive run" in the theatre's 70-year history. The Broadway production opened in 1970, ran for 143 performances, and went on to win both a New York Drama Critics' Circle award and a Tony Award for McMahon.
