Closed tear to cloth down right side of spine… (for about half the length and a closed tear across spine). Inscription on endpapers dated 1863. No other inscriptions. Hinges sound. Pages in nice, clean condition. Tiny bit of insect damage to rear board with a little hole in last few pages.

He provides an account of his travels in the United States, he travelled through Pennsylvania and spent some time in Ohio. Most of the edition was destroyed at a printer's fire and extremely hard ot find now. Last seen at auction in 1958. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Major losses to spine label. Bumping to back strip head and tail. Rear joint starting, with board firmly held. Front hinge strained but firmly held. Inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned, with light spotting and handling marks. Good. Not Stated (illustratore). book.
