Based on this reaction, a copper-catalyzed synthesis of 3-(aminomethyl)isoquinoline was accomplished which represents an unprecedented isoquinoline synthesis through a four-component coupling reaction. Following these results, extensive application studies using one-pot palladium-, acid-, or base-promoted cyclization revealed that indole- or isoquinoline-fused polycyclic compounds can be readily synthesized through multi-component reactions. As the concept of Green Chemistry becomes ever more important, these findings may provide efficient and atom-economical approaches to the diversity-oriented synthesis of bioactive compounds containing a complex structure. This could lead to development of promising drug leads with structural complexity. The work of this thesis will go on to inspire the synthetic research of many readers. 104 pp. Englisch.

In response, the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision has developed a new regulatory framework for capital measurement and standards for the banking sector. This has formally defined operational risk and introduced corresponding capital requirements.Many banks are undertaking quantitative modelling of operational risk using the Loss Distribution Approach (LDA) based on statistical quantification of the frequency and severity of operational risk losses. There are a number of unresolved methodological challenges in the LDA implementation. Overall, the area of quantitative operational risk is very new and different methods are under hot debate.This book is devoted to quantitative issues in LDA. In particular, the use of Bayesian inference is the main focus. Though it is very new in this area, the Bayesian approach is well suited for modelling operational risk, as it allows for a consistent and convenient statistical framework for quantifying the uncertainties involved. However, the theory does not allow accurate predictions of…some of the most fundamental properties of a superconductor, including the superconducting energy gap on the Fermi surface. This thesis describes the development and scientific implementation of a new experimental method that puts this old problem into an entirely new light. The nominee has made major contributions to the development and implementation of a new experimental method that enhances the resolution of spectroscopic experiments on dispersive lattice-vibrational excitations (the 'glue' responsible for Cooper pairing of electrons in conventional superconductors) by more than two orders of magnitude. Using this method,he has discovered an unexpected relationship between the superconducting energy gap and the geometry of the Fermi surface in the normal state, both of which leave subtle imprints in the lattice vibrations that could not be resolved by conventional spectroscopic methods. He has confirmed this relationship on two elemental superconductors and on a series of metallic alloys. This indicates that a mechanism qualitatively beyond the standard BCS theory determines the magnitude and anisotropy of the superconducting gap. 116 pp. Englisch.

Broadly speaking, those challenges include robust detection of events under - tion clutters, event interpretation under complex scenes, multi-level semantic event inference, putting events in context and multiple cameras, event inference from object interactions, etc. In recent years, steady progress has been made towards better models for video event categorisation and recognition, e. g. , from modelling events with bag of spatial temporal features to discovering event context, from detecting events using a single camera to inferring events through a distributed camera network, and from low-level event feature extraction and description to high-level semantic event classification and recognition. Nowadays, text based video retrieval is widely used by commercial search engines.
