Neuware -This book presents recent advances (from 2008 to 2012) concerning use of the Naïve Bayes model in unsupervised word sense disambiguation (WSD).While WSD, in general, has a number of important applications in various fields of artificia…l intelligence (information retrieval, text processing, machine translation, message understanding, man-machine communication etc.), unsupervised WSD is considered important because it is language-independent and does not require previously annotated corpora. The Naïve Bayes model has been widely used in supervised WSD, but its use in unsupervised WSD has led to more modest disambiguation results and has been less frequent. It seems that the potential of this statistical model with respect to unsupervised WSD continues to remain insufficiently explored.The present book contends that the Naïve Bayes model needs to be fed knowledge in order to perform well as a clustering technique for unsupervised WSD and examines three entirely different sources of such knowledge for feature selection: WordNet, dependency relations and web N-grams. WSD with an underlying Naïve Bayes model is ultimately positioned on the border between unsupervised and knowledge-based techniques. The benefits of feeding knowledge (of various natures) to a knowledge-lean algorithm for unsupervised WSD that uses the Naïve Bayes model as clustering technique are clearly highlighted. Hence, many countries have started to investigate the environmental impacts of their budgets by looking at existing taxes and charges, as well as tax allowances and exemptions and other relevant regulations and expenditures -even to have a special impact on the environment. In 2002 about 2,300 primary eye tumors will be diagnosed in the United states, 75% of which will be choroidal melanomas, 20% retinoblastomas, and the remainder a wide variety of tumors - malignant lymphoma, rhabdomyosarcomas, liposarcomas, meningiomas, malignant fibrous histiocytomas, etc. Even so, the majority of malignant tumors of the eye are metastatic, primarily from cancers of the lung or breast. The impact of newer imaging studies, including computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and ultrasound with and without contrast medium, have allowed for better tumor definition, more precise treatment techniques, and major improvement in local control, with preservation of the eye intact and excellent survival. The better histologic definition of the tumor has selected more appropriately the cases suitable for adjuvant chemotherapy particularly demonstrated by the combined integrated multimodal treatment of rhabdomyosarcoma without enucleation. Surgical techniques are now being reserved for biopsy and for treatment failures, a dramatic change in treatment approaches since 1993. The second edition by Sagerman and Alberti clearly demonstrates this major change in treatment. In January 1999 the Wissenschaftsrat (German Science Council) decided that the Leibniz Rechenzentrum (Computing Center) of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences in Munich should run the second Federal High-Performance Computer in Ger many. The investment cost of this Hochstleistungsrechner in Bayern (HLRB) was borne by the Federal Government of Germany and the Free State of Bavaria whereas the operating cost was at the expense of the Bavarian Gov ernment only. The operation of the HLRB is organized in combination with the - Leibniz-Rechenzentrum (LRZ) of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences as the operating authority of the HLRB - Steering Committee of the HLRB - Competence Network for Technical/Scientific High-Performance Comp- ing in Bavaria (KONWIHR). In 2000 a Hitachi SR8000-Fl was installed. It was the first Teraflops Com puter in Germany and reached a peak performance of two Teraflops after an extension at the end of 2001. This book focuses on some of the accomplishments of recent years in such disparate areas as pattern matching, data compression, free groups, coding theory, parallel and VLSI computation, and symbolic dynamics; these share a common flavor, yet ltave not been examined together in the past. In addition to being theoretically interest ing, these studies have had significant applications. It happens that these works have all too frequently been carried out in isolation, with contributions addressing similar issues scattered throughout a rather diverse body of literature. We felt that it would be advantageous to both current and future researchers to collect this work in a sin gle reference. It should be clear that the book's emphasis is on aspects of combinatorics and com plexity rather than logic, foundations, and decidability. Geomagnetic data have therefore pro vided valuable means for sensing the processes taking place at remote locations, and such basic concepts as the magnetosphere, solar wind, and trapped radiation were derived in early, presatellite days from geomagnetic analyses. Because of this advantage, geomagnetic observations have been widely utilized for monitoring the overall condition of the magneto sphere. Although the advent of space vehides has made it possible to observe magnetospheric processes in situ, supplementary information on the overall magnetospheric condition is frequently found to be indispensable for interpreting these observations in the proper perspec tive.
