Although some SSN related work was previously reported in the literature, it were mainly for Emitter Coupled Logi…c (ECL) gates using Bipolar Junction Transistors (BJTs). This present work covers in-depth analysis on estimating SSN and its impact for CMOS based devices and systems. At present semiconductor industries are moving towards scaled CMOS devices and reduced supply voltage. SSN together with coupled noise may limit the packing density, and thereby the frequency of operation of packaged systems. Our goal is to provide efficient and yet reliable methodologies and algorithms to estimate the overall noise containment in single chip and multi-chip package assemblies. We hope that the techniques and results described in this book will be useful as guides for design, package, and system engineers and academia working in this area. Through this monograph, we hope that we have shown the necessity of interactions that are essential between chip design, system design and package design engineers to design and manufacture optimal packaged systems. This subject presents problems of considerable complexity; it has generated many inge nious solutions and has been the inspiration of much work of fundamental importance. But the problems are quite different from those encountered in the design of systems intended to exploit human stereopsis, and there is surprisingly little cross-fertilization between the two fields. 1. 1. SCOPE AND STRUCTURE OF THIS BOOK The book surveys the known properties of the human unaided binocu lar system, and where possible gives the magnitude of parameters that are of use in designing technical systems involving a human operator. Chapter 2 summarizes the human stereoscopic vision literature including the depth distortions of unaided stereoscopic viewing. Chapter 3 describes a variety of 3-D image viewing techniques and deals with the performance limits of human stereopsis assisted by simple stereoscopic viewing devices. Chapter 4 extends this treatment to television binocular viewing devices, and shows 1 2 Chapter 1 that the nature of the depth distortion is changed. Since then we have fos…tered the idea of bringing together different perspectives in this area. We are now, there fore, very content that our idea has materialized in the present volume. There is both anecdotal and empirical evidence to suggest that time con straints may affect behavior. Managers and other professional decision makers frequently identify time pressure as a major constraint on their behavior (Isen berg, 1984). Chamberlain and Zika (1990) provide empirical support for this view, showing that complaints of insufficient time are the most frequently report ed everyday minor stressors or hassles for all groups of people except the elderly. A large number of excellent research papers were offered for consideration at this Conference which demonstrates the rapid growth of the field in the last three years. However, we had to limit the presentations to approximately 90 papers which provided a broad spectrum of the applications and recent interest in the subject. The proceedings of the Brookhaven meeting 'In Vivo Body Composition Studies', is published by The Institute of Physical Sciences in Medicine, London. The proceedings of the Toronto meeting 'In Vivo Body Composition Studies' was published by Plenum Press in its basic life science series. Both these meetings placed more emphasis on technical aspects while the current Houston meeting tried to emphasize more the emerging clinical applications of these techniques. The general sessions used at the Conference for presentations forms the basis of the order of appearance of the papers in this book. 420 pp. Englisch.

He described this entity as a 'peculiar rhinogenous granulomatosis with a unique participation of the arterial system and the kidneys'. Later, Godman and Churg (1954) established the classical diagnostic criteria (the 'WG triad'): granuloma, vasculitis, and glomerulonephritis. In 1958 Walton pointed out the poor prognosis of WG based on a small number of published cases (mean survival time: 5 months). In 1966 Carrington and Liebow reported 'limited forms' of WG with a defmitely more favorable prognosis. Since then positive results have been reported with cyclophosphamide therapy. In addition, a retrospective study of combined low-dose cyclophosphamide and prednisolone in 85 WG patients over a period of 21 years found a similarly encouraging outcome. The latter experience led to the current 'standard' treatment protocol (FAUCI et al. , 1973 and 1983).
