Tan cloth with dulled gilt lettering on front cover, lettering on spine is almost completely rubbed away, corners and spine ends somewhat bumped and worn, spine leans a bit, cover shows moderate spotting. Page edges somewhat tanned and foxed. Ex-seminary-library with the usual indications. Binding loosening some in general, but all pages are present and secure. Pages lightly tanned with (mostly pencil) markings. 197 pages. Packaged carefully for shipment in cardboard with U. S. tracking. Oversized or heavy books may require extra postage for priority or international shipment.

Text block sound; leather distressed and worn with spine perishing and boards tenuously attached at joints. Text block trimmed with margins a bit tight. An instance of horizontal worming to the first 25 or so leaves with here and there some loss of letters but with no meaning lost. Small burnhole pg 485. With extra engraved title page. Title page a little soiled with prior ownership in dim manuscript to several early leaves. Would benefit from a rebacking restoration. Good only thus.

A Dictionarie of English and Latin IDIOMES wherein PHRASES of the English and Latine Tongue Answering in Parallels . . Schoolmaster Walker offered this book as a means to cure the barbarisms of translations from English to Latin committed by students. After some examples, Walker observed, "If your spleen be not ready to crack I could furnish you with more such as these be . as finding them matter of almost every days tormenting observation." Most idioms are identified by its classical author, but others by moderns, such as Erasmus, Beza etc. Printed in blackface type. [ Wing W428; ESTC R34703]. With a copperplate frontispiece.
