Often badly fed and equipped (as in the Penisular Campaign), these were the men who fought a bitter rearguard action all the way across Spain and at the same time inflicted several crushing defeats on an enemy of vastly superior strenghth through their courage, endurance and pride in their regiment. Jack Cassin-Scott, the illustrator, pays a pictorial tribute to these men of the Infantry in 96 pages of authentic and accurate colour plates. Each plate is complete with a close-up of some item of equipment, and these plates, together with the detailed text, provide a book of military interest and historical reference.
