In "Westward Ho!" John W. Maxwell, being a skilled photographer, journeys westward from Colorado to photograph steam and narrow gauge trains in two separate trips. A folded map of both "Eastward" and "Westward" travels is laid in. In his "On Line," Edward Mahoney traveled the Santa Fe Railway from 1919 to 1922 in his role as secretary to a division superintendent, describing the various aspects of western steam railroading.
