Through the voices of Hylas-the embodiment of the educated man who is nonetheless still a prisoner of dominant narratives and syncretistic seductions-and Philonous-the guardian of initiatory memory and logic-the dialogue confronts head-on the crucial knot of ancient Wisdom, tearing away the veil of that "mirage" known as the single Primordial Tradition.The central core from which the dissertation unfolds is the radical critique, conducted from an exquisitely Eleusinian and Mystery perspective, of the twentieth-century Traditionalism of Rene Guenon, Frithjof Schuon, and Raphael. Philonous unmasks with geometric lucidity the perspective error inherent in wanting at all costs to trace the infinite richness of the manifest world back to a static and undifferentiated Principle.The Author launches a frontal attack against that pernicious, entirely Greek tendency to want to reduce everything to the One, and the hollow aspiration toward violent reunification with such an Entity.According to Nicola Bizzi's thought, at the very moment when this hypothetical Primary Unity gave origin to the cosmos and generated, by emanation, its own hypostases (from which the Gods derived), it irreversibly fragmented, thereby ceasing to be One and resolving/dissolving metaphysically into the multiplicity of divine forms.The claim of a transcendent unity of religions is also masterfully addressed by the Author and identified as a legacy of the relativistic tendencies of late antiquity and Renaissance Hermetism-visions completely foreign to the original purity of the Mysteries, particularly the Eleusinian ones.From this metaphysical error, as the course of the dialogue demonstrates, sprang the triumph of monotheisms, described as actual counter-initiatory instruments of submission and social control.Liberation, as Nicola Bizzi explains to us, does not occur through faith or submission, but through two fundamental instruments of the awakened mind: Maieutics and the Noos.
