Prima edizione molto rara del manuale infermieristico devozionale e pratico redatto dal frate cappuccino di Valdobbiadene Francesco Dal bosco, soprannominato il Castagnaro pubblicato a Venezia nel 1664 da Gio. Battista Merlo. Il manuale fu destinato ad assistere gli "infermieri" laici (assistenti caritatevoli) nella cura dei malati. Il testo è suddiviso in trattati o osservazioni per casi specifici. Ogni trattato fornisce rimedi e indicazioni pratiche, con un doppio indice (argomento e osservazioni notabili). Il volume offre un'interessante prospettiva della pratica assistenziale nel XVII secolo e rappresenta un esempio precoce di manualistica infermieristica empirica, parte di una tradizione di testi devozionali e pratici per la cura (nel solco del più antico corpus di Trotula della Scuola medica salernitana). Références : Brunet, IV, 34 et Supplément II, 13 ; Cicognara, N°1725 ; Fétis, VI, 295 ; Eitner, VII, 166 ; Hoepli, Cento libri preziosi, etc). « Les deux ouvrages sont rares et assez recherchés » écrit Brunet IV, 34. En réalité le bibliographe cite ces deux éditions comme des livres entièrement différents. Il décrit l'édition de 1602 et n'a jamais vu d'exemplaire de l'édition de 1604, d'où son erreur. Aucun exemplaire de l'édition de 1602 n'est passé sur le marché public international depuis plus de 30 ans (APBC) et seuls deux exemplaires de 1604 sont répertoriés, l'un d'eux fut vendu 15 000 $ il y a une dizaine d'années. Le volume dédicacé à Philippe III d'Espagne, est orné du portrait de l'auteur Cesare de Negri, à pleine page et de 58 superbes estampes à toute page de ballets, danseurs et danseuses, accompagnées de musique notée, dessinés par Mauro Rovere de son vrai nom Giovanni Rossetti dit « il Fiamminghino » et gravé au burin par Leon Pallavicino. La première partie est d'un grand intérêt pour sa description précise des nombreuses fêtes et ballets donné à Milan à cette époque. Elle est accompagnée du nom des cavaliers, ainsi que du nom et de la qualité des cavalières. L'exemplaire possède le rare carton de 10 lignes collé à la page 182 qui manque souvent. Exemplaire non lavé, conservé dans sa reliure italienne réalisée vers 1720 portant en lettres d'or sur le premier plat le nom « c da ega » et provenant de la bibliothèque napolitaine P. No copy of the 1602 edition has appeared on the market for more than 30 years and only 2 copies of the present edition are recorded during the same period of time. One of them was sold for 15 000 $ about ten years ago. The work which is dedicated to Philip III of Spain is illustrated with the full-page portrait of the author and 58 superb full page engravings showing ballets and dancers, drawn by Mauro Rovere and engraved by Leon Pallavicino. The present copy bears the rare cancel sticked on page 182. The present copy is unwashed and preserved in its Italian binding, produced about 1720. It comes from the Neapolitan collection P. Drayton (Naples 1857).
