Brossura editoriale illustrata con dorso in carta di recupero a strisce, in quarto piccolo cm 20x16.5, pp 72 + 1 carta ripiegata, incluse le copertine; numerose xilografie nel testo e fuori testo. Sotto il nome di Messager Boiteux (Hinckende Bot, Corrier Zoppo) apparvero a partire dalla fine del secolo XVII numerosi almanacchi in Svizzera e Germania, dapprima in tedesco, poi in francese e anche in italiano. Un'edizione francese dell'almanacco apparve a Berna attorno alla metà del secolo XVIII, e dopo alcune vicissitudini prese nel 1803 il nome di Le Véritable Messager boiteux de Berne et Vevey, che porta ancora oggi. Questo fascicolo del 1810 vide per la prima volta comparire la nuova copertina, firmata VL (Vincent Lörtscher), che seppur rielaborata dallo stesso artista nel 1829 divenne quella definitiva e a tutt'oggi utilizzata. L'almanacco si apre con un seguito della cronologia dei primi anni del XIX secolo (da metà 1807 a inizio 1808) e un elenco dei sovrani d'Europa, seguono un frontespizio rubricato, il calendario con le feste, le indicazioni astronomiche e agricole, anche questo parzialmente rubricato e illustrato per ciascun mese da una piccola xilografia con simbolo zodiacale e scene di vita agricola, caccia ecc; sulla colonna esterna, il testo di un Abregé de l'Histoire des Suisses. Dopo le effemeridi astronomiche (con testata xilografica) inizia la seconda parte dell'almanacco, intitolata RELATION CURIEUSE DES CHOSES LES PLUS REMARQUABLES che riassume le vicende politiche degli anni precedenti, e raccoglie aneddoti, curiosità notizie varie; una testata e una piccola iniziale silografiche aprono la sezione, che è illustrata da alcune tavole a piena pagina: una scena di giocatori di carte all'osteria (Singulière manière d'intéresser le Jeu), una veduta di Wesen alluvionata, e due immagini dedicate all'incontro tra Napoleone e Alessandro di Russia a Erfurt nel 1808 (i due sovrani e reciproche scorte sulla strada, e, su tavola ripiegata, la cena di gala data a Weimar il 6 ottobre 1808 per i sovrani riuniti a Erfurt, con tavola imbandita, servitori, e didascalia degli illustri partecipanti raffigurati). In fine, una descrizione e immagine silografica di un attrezzo agricolo (assolcatore). Esemplare un poco vissuto e con piccoli restauri sulla copertina di questa gustosissima pubblicazione popolare. Buon esemplare, inevitabilmente vissuto vista la qualità della carta, stampa popolaresca e talvolta imprecisa, piccoli ben eseguiti restauri sui piatti e dorso.
