However I did not find any mention of the battles he fought in (Leyte Gulf 10/23-26/44, etc.) in the text.

He was commander of the base at Lockbourne (Ohio) when we rededicated it and named it Rickenbacker AFB in 1974. He sat next to EVR [Edward V. Rickenbacker] in 1944, I think it was, or 1945, in Columbus, at the world premiere of the movie ÔCaptain EddieÕ.Ó The reference to John C.
