The material is easily accessible to senior undergraduates and first year students. A knowledge of elementary physics, calculus, and linear system theory is assumed, but an extensive mathematical and statistical background is not required. This third edition has been updated and includes chapters on colour and the design of improved television systems, and an appendix describing the current status of high-definition television throughout the world.
