Aggiungi al carrelloFirst edition. Octavo. 16 pages. Frontispiece deisgned by J. Pritchard. Wrappers. Gekoski and Grogan note, "first printed in 'The Listener', this pamphlet was commissioned by E. G. H. Kempson, and executed by L. J. Randle (now printer at the Whittington Press - this being his first piece of printing). Mrs Kempson recalls that only 20 or 30 copies were printed, though John Randle suggests that the figure may have been closer to 100." Of these, very few were issued with the frontispiece colour-washed in blue-green, as here.On the half-title page is the pencilled ownership signature of Michael Davis who was a housemaster at Marlborough College. Some crinkling to the top margin of the frontispiece, presumably caused by the colour-wash. Covers faintly darkened at the edges. Small chip to fore-edge of rear cover. Very good indeed. These copies with the colour frontispiece are rare.

Aggiungi al carrelloFirst and sole edition. Single quire. Original Cambridge blue stapled wrappers with black lettering. Staples slightly rusty, though less than usual, otherwise a fine copy. Woodblock frontispiece by J. Pritchard. By a long way Golding's scarcest work. "First printed in 'The Listener', this pamphlet was commissioned by E. G. H. Kempson, and executed by L. J. Randle (now printer at the Whittington Press - this being his first piece of printing). Mrs Kempson recalls that only 20 or 30 copies were printed, though John Randle suggests that the figure may have been closer to 100." - Gekoski & Grogan.

Aggiungi al carrelloFirst edition. SIGNED by Golding in full on half-title. With printed addressed postcard inserted, "From Sir William Golding, Faber & Faber Ltd., 3 Queen Square." The Faber and Faber with address has been crossed out by Golding and a house name written on top in his own hand. Written on the card is "Signature herewith - Yours WG". Wood-block frontis in b/w by J. Pritchard. Staples not rusted, a remarkably fine copy of a very scarce pamphlet. This work was first printed in "The Listener". One of the scarcest of Golding's works. Unusual to find a signed copy.
