Bald zeigte sich auch in der Architektur die Fruchtbarkeit dieser kreativen Herangehensweise. Das Werk von bedeutenden zeitgenössischen Architekten ist ganz oder teilweise dieser Haltung verpflichtet. Die vorliegende Darstellung untersucht zunächst die historischen Wurzeln dieser Strömung: Loos, Wittgenstein, Mies und Asplund gehören zu den maßgebenden Vorläufern. Im Hauptteil des Buches finden dann die aktuellen Protagonisten minimalistischer Architektur eine eingehende Würdigung - u. a. Tadao Ando, Luis Barragán, Alberto Campo Baeza, A.G. Fronzoni, Michael Gabellini, John Pawson, Claudio Silvestrin, Eduardo Souto Moura und Peter Zumthor. Eine knappe Auswahl wichtiger Texte der betreffenden Architekten rundet diese thematische Monografie ab, die einen fundierten Überblick zum Minimalismus bietet, einem der Haupttrends gegenwärtiger Architektur. FrancoBertoni erteilte nach dem Diplom in Architekturgeschichte an der Universita degli Studi von Florenz ebendort Seminare über die Architektur des 18. und 20. Jahrhunderts. Derzeit lehrt er als Dozent am Istituto Superiore Industrie Artistiche von Faenza. Zahlreiche Artikel und Buchveröffentlichungen über die Architektur des Neoklassizismus und des 20.
