No Binding. Condizione: Very Good. No Jacket. Hey! Have you got a nice Parlophone "Please Please Me" 12-inch jacket with a vinyl record inside that looks like some teen-ager used it as a hockey puck -- or maybe no vinyl at all? We can help! What we have here is not a book but a 12-inch, 33-1/3 rpm vinyl mono record, vinyl disc ONLY -- NO cardboard jacket. (Came to us in a plain white inner sleeve, which offered good protection, thank heavens.) We believe this is a 1963 (though some say 1964) fourth pressing of Parlophone mono PMC 1202, with the name "Parlophone" in yellow (not gold) all caps sans serif lettering 3/8ths-inch tall. The words "The Beatles," on the other hand, appear near bottom of labels in tiny letters 1/16 inch tall. (What were they THINKING?) The "All rights of the manufacturer" legend around the edge of the label starts with "The Parlophone Co. Ltd." (NOT "Gramophone.") The label DOES read "Recording first published 1963", but NOT "Sold in the U.K." "Dick James Mus. Co." publisher's credit appears to label for the two cuts "Ask Me Why" and "Please Please Me," only. Trailoff stamped XEX 421-1 N to Side One; XEX 422-1 N to Side Two. Vinyl is very-good with several superficial, curved, parallel scratches. These scratches cannot be felt; we have played these tracks and hear minor noise only between tracks. The fact that this album is mono will not be considered a drawback by many collectors seeking the original Beatles Sound; though in later efforts the lads worked quite purposely with stereo technology at Abbey Road, George Harrison found some of the stereo releases of their early work simply odd, with different tracks assigned almost randomly to separate channels, creating effects which the band had not intended and on which they had not been consulted. Original U.K. monaural release here reduced from $250. (Vinyl only; NO jacket.) As with all our items priced higher than $90, this item will be shipped "signature required.".
