This translation is 564 pages in English with a brown leatherette binding and a red ribbon marker. There is a slight touch of wear at the head and tail of the spine and at cover corners. Interior is clean, tight and bright. I am unable to pinpoint the year of publication. A quite nice copy; available for immediate shipment, carefully packed in a sturdy box!

Early English translation of the internationally famous novel, by the Nobel Prize winning author, Henryk Sienkiewicz (1846-1916), best known in his native Poland for his historical novels set in the time of the seventeenth century Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Quo Vadis, first published in Warsaw in book form in 1896, takes place in ancient Rome at the time of the emperor Nero around AD 64. It relates the persecution of early Christians and features many actual historical characters, culminating in the martyrdom of St Peter.
