We believe the editor/compiler of this book of information to be Philip Luckombe (1730-1803), an English printer, author, and editor of various dictionaries and encyclopædias. The book includes information on accidents, incidents, and remarkable events; war and battles; laws and oaths; discoveries; inventions, and discoveries in arts; earthquakes, famines, storms, etc.; English sovereigns; kingdoms, states, cities and towns; religious institutions; military knights and titles of honour; kings of France; kings of Spain; and Lord Mayors of London. The book is bound in contemporary full leather boards with gold titling on a leather label and gold decoration on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with some expected scuffing and light marking to the leather on the boards. The corners are lightly bumped with rubbing to the leather on the corner tips and a small bit of damage to the leather on the tip of the bottom front corner. The contents are tight and clean apart from a few small marks and some foxing to the title-page and heavier foxing to the frontispiece. The front and rear free endpapers have been removed.
