His writing has been described as distinctly Kafkaesque and often drew inspiration from his experiences as a firefighter in London during the Blitz. Three is a trio of Sansom's short stories, namely 'The Cleaner's Story', 'Cat Up a Tree', and 'The Invited'. In the original publisher's full cloth binding and with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, generally very smart barring a minor damp stain at the head of the spine and a touch of bumping to the extremities. Wrapper is sound with handling marks and edgewear, including minor closed tears and chips, as well as significant rubbing and marking to the spine. Wrapper's reverse has a small red stain and tide mark at the spine's head and a significantly discoloured archival tape repair at the same's tail, both visible from the wrapper's front. A similar tide mark and stain to the front and rear endpapers at the hinge, as well as a few age spots. Bookplate with dated previous owner's inscription to the recto of the front free endpaper.
