Eight American specialists in research and evaluation provide practitioner-oriented interpretation of the research perspectives found in Evaluating Educational Technology: Effective Research Designs for Improving Learning (Haertel and Means, 2003) regarding the effective use of technology in the classroom. Both texts evolved from a project conducted by SRI International, an independent nonprofit research organization based in California. Coverage includes the learning technology research that best addresses policy makers' needs, measuring student learning, evaluating the long-term effects of technology, and the role of policy makers and administrators in setting the research agenda.
