The "Popular Collector's Issue" designation indicates the recording quality here is "not representative of RCA Victor's present day (1950s) high quality standards," meaning these tracks are reissues, having been originally recorded between Dec. 2, 1940 ("Jelly, Jelly," credited to band leader Hines & vocalist Eckstine) and March 19, 1942, for initial release on 78 rpm shellac. Notable is the recurring presence of Ernie Hecksher and his Orchestra, who maintained frequent residencies at the Venetian during this period. Tony Bennett's first performance of "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" was performed at the Venetian Room in 1961.
