Nimrod expounds on fox hunting and travelling by stage coach. 'The Chace' originally appeared in the March 1832 issue of the London Quarterly Review under the title 'On English Foxhunting', 'The Road' and 'The Turf' appearing subsequently in the same magazine. The first edition in book form of all three articles together was published by John Murray, London 1837. "A new edition with an introduction by W. shaw Sparrow, and nineteen illustrations in colour, half-tone and line after Francis Barlow, George Stubbs, John Wootton, Tom Rowlandson, Henry Alken, F.C. turner, James Pollard, G. Havell, J.F. Herrin, Sen., Wildrake & Thomas Bewick." W. Shaw Sparrow's introductory essay discusses Nimrod's later career as a writer and gives much interesting background. The three articles themselves are interesting discussions on each topic in the wighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Well worth a read. .

Nimrod], writer on sport, was said to have created the role of gentleman hunting correspondent.
