Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. A surprisingly clean and stain-free, sound and solid, firm and tight copy of this lovely book. In heavy-duty full cloth binding. All exterior page edges are gilt, which is still very bright and shiny. The book stands 12" tall. There have been several different editions of this book, with varying numbers of illustrations. This 1892 edition has ten full-page color plates, each under tissue guard, each sutiable for framing. The reverse side of all the plates is blank. The book has no significant flaws, but take note of the following: The embossed gold lettering on the front cover, is faded but remains legible; there is slight rubbing to the cloth binding at the spine ends, at the corners, and at various spots along the board edges, but the cloth is not torn, not fraying, and not worn through; the bottom front corner is lightly bumped, all other corners unbumped ; previous owners name is neatly, inobtrusively rubber stamped on the first two blank pages; and the pages have a soft, uniform patina from age. The book is quite clean and stain-free, square and straight, very firm and tight in its binding, no pages are loose, torn, folded, creased, or missing. All tissue guards are present and intact. The hinges are sound and undamaged. All pages are clean and stain free, and all text and illustrations are sharp and legible, the color in the illustrations remains bright. Aside from the previous owner's name, as noted, there is no writing, underlining, highlighting, or other such markings anywhere in the book. Hardcover. Condizione: Good. Volume I only. Only graded Good because the book's spine is cracked in front and back, but all pages are firmly bound in. All ten of the color plates are present and clean with the original tissue guards in place. Some of the tissue guards are creased. Pages are lightly toned and clean without marks, stains or wrinkles. The blue covers and spine (with embossed illustration and gilt lettering) are only very lightly soiled. There is a small, faint water stain in the lower right corner of the front cover. The lower right corner of the front cover and lower left corner of the back cover are bumped. There are a few light scratches to the gilt outer page edges and moderate rub wear to the top and bottom of the spine, corner tips. Still a handsome volume.
