Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. A surprisingly clean and stain-free, sound and solid, firm and tight copy of this lovely book. In heavy-duty full cloth binding. All exterior page edges are gilt, which is still very bright and shiny. The book stands 12" tall. There have been several different editions of this book, with varying numbers of illustrations. This 1892 edition has ten full-page color plates, each under tissue guard, each sutiable for framing. The reverse side of all the plates is blank. The book has no significant flaws, but take note of the following: The embossed gold lettering on the front cover, is faded but remains legible; there is slight rubbing to the cloth binding at the spine ends, at the corners, and at various spots along the board edges, but the cloth is not torn, not fraying, and not worn through; the bottom front corner is lightly bumped, all other corners unbumped ; previous owners name is neatly, inobtrusively rubber stamped on the first two blank pages; and the pages have a soft, uniform patina from age. The book is quite clean and stain-free, square and straight, very firm and tight in its binding, no pages are loose, torn, folded, creased, or missing. All tissue guards are present and intact. The hinges are sound and undamaged. All pages are clean and stain free, and all text and illustrations are sharp and legible, the color in the illustrations remains bright. Aside from the previous owner's name, as noted, there is no writing, underlining, highlighting, or other such markings anywhere in the book. A beautifully executed 19th century flower plate book, still in it's original dust jacket and the publisher's two-part gift box with paste-on label. Copyright page has an 1885 copyright date, title page with 1899. Forest green linen over boards, title printed in white onto upper board and spine, top edge stained green, 4to (11-1/4 inches tall), pp. unpaginated [89 with 90 being a blank], illustrated with ten tissue-guarded color plates and each flower in turn followed by it's own accompanying text. Volume with an occasional spot of finger soil to text, light offset to eps from DJ flaps and to pre-title from a once inserted card, some show through to plate versos, old price in pencil to ffep, a stray pin head sized bit of green top edge stain to fore-edge and one tissue guard noted with two tiny holes. Unclipped DJ is toned with minor chips and small closed tears. Box is well worn but complete, with stains, a single corner split to upper half and a pencil note to outside lower half "Gift from Aunt Emma", also loosely inserted is a small piece of paper with "? from Aunt Emma" written in pencil.
