Internally, marbled matching endpapers, (xvii), [1], 222 pp, printed by W Wilson, ffep and ep are watermarked Linen 1876, title page verso has a contemporary dedication, t.e.g., occasional spotting. (186*112 mm). This whimsical treatise contains the first and earliest reference to the custom of bundling in America. References are also made to the same practice in Holland and Wales. According to the author, marriage frequently ensues! Dubois, writer, who urged by publishers, Thomas Hood (1759?-1811) and his partner Sharpe, produced a satirical pamphlet entitled My pocket-book, or, Hints for a 'ryghte merrie and conceitede tour', in quarto, to be called, 'The stranger in Ireland' (1805). This was an effective satire of the travel literature of Sir John Carr, and quickly passed through two editions. See ODNB for a full Bio.
