Tenui fioriture ai margini di copertina, specie al retro, peraltro copia in perfetto stato, probabilmente mai letta, con paginazione fresca e compatta -- "Il pechinese azzurro" risale al 1954 e si può considerare il capolavoro di Kjeld Abell (1901-61), drammaturgo danese, sperimentatore scenico e rinnovatore per eccellenza del teatro moderno in Danimarca. Perfetta nella sua raffinatezza tecnico-formale, quest'opera esibisce la rielaborazione di tutta una serie di motivi già trattati nei drammi precedenti come quello del disimpegno passivo e del conformismo dell'educazione borghese sino al problema del suicidio: una serie di motivi o temi secondari che ruotano intorno al tema centrale imperniato sulla situazione di solitudine e di isolamento dell'uomo moderno. Tale problematica come sappiamo fu ricorrente nel teatro europeo del periodo ma, sia per l'ottica in cui viene affrontata sia per le conclusioni che Abell ne trae con il suo messaggio di fede nella solidarietà umana, il dramma si pone in una posizione nettamente antitetica rispetto a gran parte della produzione contemporanea che anzi esaltava la morte come unica soluzione. Oltre al testo integrale del dramma in versione bilingue con l'originale danese a fronte, il volume contiene un'introduzione che offre un inquadramento storico dell'opera di Abell ed un saggio critico in cui l'autrice cerca, tra l'altro, di mettere in rilievo la particolare tecnica utilizzata nel dramma in cui le strutture tematiche si riflettono fedelmente nella forma attraverso una strutturazione del tutto peculiare del dialogo. .
