Mirza Abu Taleb Khan (also known as Abu Taleb Tabrizi or Abu Taleb Isfahani),(1752-1805/1806) was a tax-collector and administrator born in Northern India of Iranian father, notable for a memoir of his travels in Britain, Europe, and Asia Minor, Masir Talib fi Bilad Afranji, written in Dari Persian language between circa 1799 and 1805. The book's title is translated as 'The Travels of Taleb in the Regions of Europe' and was reprinted in the West as 'Travels of Mirza Abu Taleb Khan in Asia, Africa and Europe'; it is one of the earliest by an Indian travel writer about the West, and has been described as 'perhaps the most significant "reverse travelogue" published in Europe during the Romantic era".

Prima edizione torinese e seconda edizione italiana dopo quella milanese del Sonzogno del 1820. 3 volumetti in-24° (cm. 13x8,2), pp. pp. 200 + 1 INCISIONE in antiporta; pp. 232; pp. 200. Modesta mezza pelle coeva e carta decorata ai piatti, ma oro sbiadito al dorso, mancanze alle cuffie, tracce di vecchia carta gommata al veso d…ei piatti e alle sguardie, ma interni freschi e puliti. Un viaggiatore orientale in Occidente. Origine e famiglia dell'Autore (nato in Persia, ma rifugiatosi in India per sfuggire alla "tirannia" di Nader Shah; esattore delle tasse e amministratore dell'India settentrionale, a Lucknow poi a Calcutta (sede del governo della East India Company), studioso rilevante per queste sue memorie ("Viaggi di Talib nella terra dei Franchi"), scritte tra il 1799 e il 1805 circa; accompagnò il funzionario della Compagnia delle Indie David Thomas Richardson che tornava a Londra per motivi di salute; "forse il primo più significativo "diario di viaggio inverso" pubblicato in Europa durante l'epoca romantica". Scrisse anche versi, in specie sulle "donne d'Inghilterra, che aspirano all'uguaglianza con gli Angeli del Paradiso". Calcutta, Città del Capo, Cork, Londra, (quasi tutti i primi due volumi), dal 1802 a Parigi, Lione, Marsiglia, Genova, cortigiane, Livorno, Malta, Costantinopoli, Smirne, Bagdad, Amasieh, Sebaste, Kurdistan, Mossul, Hella, Neiif, musulmani, Bombay, Golfo Persico.
