Aggiungi al carrelloCloth. Condizione: Very Good. Unamed (illustratore). A delightful copy of Ada Galsworthy's 'The Dear Dogs', a celebration of the relationship between mankind and its pets. Includes an inscribed photograph of the author. A charming work, illustrated throughout with photographs. Ada Galsworthy was married to author and winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature, John Galsworthy. Previously married to Galsworthy's cousin, the pair eventually married after a ten year long love affair. Galsworthy credited his wife with much of his success, using her as inspiration for his character Irene in the novel 'The Forsyte Saga', a novel which is also dedicated to her. This volume also includes a the newspaper obituary of Ada Galsworthy taped to the front pastedown, as well as an inscribed photograph. The photograph depicts the author with a dog, with an inscription to the rear that reads: '1941-1942. All good wishes and cordial thoughts! And looking forward to better times. Thank you for the news and kind messages. Sincerely yours, Ada Galsworthy.' Though not addressed to anyone, there is a ink inscription to the front endpaper which reads 'D A Hurst' and is dated 1935. It may be assumed that the photograph was addressed to this person. This work is perfect for those with a interest in dogs, or indeed the life and work of both Ada and John Galsworthy. Evidence of tape removal to the rear endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are spotted throughout. Evidence of tape remove to the reverse of the half title page, which appears to be from where the photograph was originally secured. Minor tape damage to the head of the photograph. Very Good. signed by author. book.
