Worldcat locates 2 copies only (OCLC 62278666: UAE University, UCLA). This was prepared by the Ibn Majid Society for Folk Arts and Rowing, with backing from the IDEX 95 Committee. The Ibn Majid Society was founded in RAK to preserve Emirati folk arts and maritime heritage. Credited here are its General Supervisor Nasser Hassan Al Kass, Heritage Committee Members Ahmed Hassan Al Kharkhour and Ahmed Mohammed Saeed, and photographer Ahmed Fadlallah Azzam. IDEX 95 was the 2nd UAE International Defence Exhibition hosted in Abu Dhabi, which took place in March 1995. With representatives from over 40 countries attending, the IDEX 95 Committee initiated this work to raise their awareness of Emirati culture and history. The Committee members named are Brigadier General Sultan Bakhiet Al Swaidi, and Lieutenant Colonel Ali Salem Al Kaabia. Both opening statements are by military figures including Chief of Staff HH Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the Head of the Military Committee Organising International Shows (CODEX) Brigadier General Obaid Bakhiet Al Swaidi. There are no further statements or essays, and the rest features captioned photos organised into Diving and Fishing Items (pp17-52), House / Clay Instruments (pp53-102), Traditional Games (pp103-110), Agricultural Instruments (pp111-122), and Fishing with Al-A'ameleh (pp123-125). The Diving and Fishing section includes much on pearl diving, including equipment used by divers and the crew on board, a merchant's safe, storage boxes for kohl and medicine, scales, weights etc. Fishing items include a range of nets, traps, string, weights, baskets, wheels, anchors, navigational instruments, ship building and maintenance tools, dhow maquettes, on-board cooking devices, etc. The House section has a diversity of storage jars, cooking pots, basins, cups, chinaware, dhallas, burners, spoons, trays, grinding implements, knives, weights, basketry, wooden storage chests, and much else.…
