Aggiungi al carrelloSoft cover. Condizione: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Published b y The Air League of the British Empire in 1935, this is the first softback printing of Sir Philip Sassoon, Captain Geoffrey De Haviland and Various Other Contributors' SOUVENIR OF EMPIRE AIR DAY: Saturday 25th May 1935 with a foreword by The Marquess of Londonderry. 96 pages, stapled cult pictorial soft card covers, wonderful atmospheric b/w illustrations/ photographs of famous aircraft and pioneering pilots throughout, the book is in good condition with some very minor tearing to the front card cover near the top staple which like its counterpart is a little rusted. The card covers do have a little edge creasing but are basically in very decent condition. The interior of the book is also very good and with several pencil annotations made by C Smith to the first few pages and full title page, this may even have been an even rarer pre-production souvenir. The book is delicate and extremely hard to come by, photographs are available on request.…

Aggiungi al carrello[2] pp.; 27.8 x 21.5 cm.; die-cut; black-and-white; edition size unknown; unsigned and unnumbered; offset-printed Folded leaflet dropped on [May 10, 1972] to protest Richard Nixon's failure to end the Vietnam War. Protest included simulation of Dragontooth bombs being dropped. Includes a mailing coupon to H.S. Geneen to support a boycott of Wonder Bread and other IT&T products. "If you were in Indochina, and you stepped on a little bomb the shape of this leaflet and about as big as a pack of cigarettes, you'd probably lose a foot-whether you were a soldier or a child. Dragentooth bombs are anti-personnel weapons designed to maim people. They've been dropped by the millions on Indochina. They are part of the air war, the main weapon being used by President Nixon to support the corrupt and tyrannical Thieu government. Under Nixon, the air war has killed, wounded or left homeless 3,000,000 people in Indochina. Nixon's air war has produced more casualties than Lyndon Johnson's land war. Nixon has "wound down the war" for U.S. troops, while winding it up for the people of Indochina. Nixon hasn't ended the war, he has merely changed the nationality and color of the corpses. And he tries to sell that as a 'peacemaking' policy. In addition to bombs, the air war uses 'sensors' that are dropped near places the military thinks the 'enemy' is hiding. The sensors detect movement of people and machines and radio this information to computers, that in turn direct bombers to attack the place where the sensors are. Since the sensors cannot tell the difference between soldiers and children, neither can the bombers. IT&T and its subsidiaries make relay platforms for sensors, airplane targeting and guidance systems and other hardware for the air war. IT&T is one of the many corporations that manufacture gadgets for killing people, and make enormous profits from war. That's why we are demonstrating at the IT&T headquarters. That's why we ask you to join us in boycotting IT&T products, one of which is Wonder Bread. Hostess baked goods are another. These are made by Continental Baking Co., an IT&T subsidiary. IT&T has many other subsidiaries, including Avis Rent-A-Car and Sheraton Hotel. Boycott them all. Fill out the coupon at the end of this leaflet and mail it to IT&T." -- from flyer's text. "More than 2.500 anti-war demonstrators staged a 'simulated saturation bombing' in front of the corporate headquarters of International Telephone and Telegraph here, to protest Nixon?s escalation and ITT?s involvement in the Indochina war. In New York, the demonstrators sought to dramatize what happens daily to people in Indochina during the bombing. Thousands of parachutes called 'simulated electronic battlefield sensors' were thrown into the Park avenue area from between 49th and 50th streets from an upper floor of the Warldorf-Astoria Hotel. Such 'sensors' pinpoint U.S. anti-population bombing raids. Tens of thousands of leaflets shaped like the anti-personnel bombs (guava, pineapple, and dragontooth bombs) used in Southeast Asia fluttered down on Park avenue as the sounds of a bombing raid blared from sound effect devices. Each leaflet explained the bomb it represented and its effect on human beings and called upon people to join the protest. Those demonstrators who were 'killed' by the bombing lay down in front of ITT headquarters, blocking traffic. They smeared themselves with ketchup and red-dies to simulate blood. The 'survivors' of the bombing were rounded up by members of the Vietnam Veterans Against the War and placed in 'concentration camps.' The VVAW members carried toy M-16s and had signs attached to their backs reading 'Saigon Police.' The survivors, or 'prisoners of war' were herded into the street in front of the ITT and made to sit." -- Ron Tyson, "2,500 in New York Stage a 'Bombing' Raid at ITT Office," New York Daily World, May 12, 1972. Good. Edgewear and pale soiling to recto, otherwise clean and unmarked. Folded through horizontal cente.…
