Il s'agit d'une oeuvre entièrement personnelle, basée sur les données de la clinique et de la radiologie, publiée deux ans après la découverte des rayons X et l'invention de la radiologie. Il s'agit non seulement de l'une des premières applications de la radiologie à la chirurgie orthopédique et traumatologique, mais aussi d'une monographie renfermant d'importantes données novatrices sur le sujet. Mouchet a examiné pendant près de deux ans à l'hôpital Trousseau dans les services de Lannelongue et Broca toutes les lésions traumatiques du coude, les a soumis au contrôle de la radiographie (après un examen clinique approfondi), les a soigné et a suivi l'évolution (avec souvent contrôle radiographique). Il remercie tout particulièrement "les radiographes qui ont été la cheville ouvrière de ce travail", Albert Londe, chef du laboratoire de photographie de la Salpêtrière, et M. Vaillant, chef du laboratoire de radiographie de la clinique Baudelocque. Cet ouvrage est basé sur 103 observations. Mouchet étudie les fractures du condyle externe, les fractures supra-condyliennes et celles de l'épitrochlée, les décollements de l'épiphyse humérale inférieure, les fractures de l'épicondyle, les fractures sus-condylo-inter-condyliennes, les fractures du condyle interne et celles de la portion articulaire. Mouchet décrit notamment la fracture isolée du condyle huméral (fracture du capitellum), qu'il dénomme "décalottement du condyle articulaire". Albert Mouchet (1869-1963) devint chirurgien des hôpitaux, chef du service de chirurgie infantile de l'hôpital Saint-Louis, directeur de la Revue de chirurgie orthopédique, président de la Société nationale de chirurgie (1933).
