I suspect these were all signed at an event that they appeared in or part of a Royal Academy of Music which they all had links to. Provenance: From the family of autograph collector Emily Mary Rose Lee (1869-1949), wife of Colonel William Crawford Walton (1864-1937). Emily was the daughter of William Lee, Professor of Ecclesiastical History at the University of Glasgow from 1874 to 1886, and granddaughter of John Lee (1779-1859), Principal of Edinburgh University from 1840 to 1859. A letter to a friend enclosing the fee for the "1re Congrès International de Musique", which was 23 shillings, equivalent to 10 Francs: "Ci jointe vous honneur mon mandat de vente somme shillings equivalent à 10 francs, mon cotisation pour le 1re Congrès International de Musique". The "Congrès International de Musique" was part of the 1900 Paris Exposition; more than fifty million visitors attended. - Visetti was professor of singing at the Royal College of Music after having studied music at the Milan Conservatory, where he won several awards and became acquainted with Verdi. After composing the opera "Les Trois Mousquetaires" in Paris, he moved to England in 1871 and arranged works of famous English composers such as Arthur Sullivan and William Sterndale Bennett to be performed in Italy. He taught singing at the Guildhall School of Music, the London Academy of Music, the Watford School, and the Royal College of Music. He also translated several Italian books into English and wrote an acclaimed Verdi biography. - Creased in the middle.
