Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book tells the fascinating story of two equestrian statues erected in 18th-century New York City honoring King George III and William Pitt. Both statues, commissioned in 1766 as an expression of gratitude and respect, mirrored the intertwined history between Great Britain and America during the Revolutionary War era. The statues' divergent fates symbolize the tumultuous events of the time, as George III's effigy was toppled and melted down for bullets, while Pitt's statue, though damaged, was preserved and serves as a poignant reminder of the era's complexities.
