The jacket's spine is also a bit stained, and has a few short chips and tears at the edges. From the library of Audrey and Berlyn Brixner, with their bookplate on the front pastedown. American photographer Berlyn B. Brixner (1911-2009) was the head photographer for the Trinity test, the first detonation of a nuclear weapon. A radical revision and enlargement which includes the results not only of new discoveries since 1934, but also the steady research conducted by the author during the intervening years. Includes three new chapters on Adhesives, Beads and Inlaid Eyes, and the chapter on Mummification has been greatly expanded.

First edition, first impression, with the advertisement for the Great Eastern Railway dated 1894. Bound in the publisher's original grey pictorial cloth. One of the earliest examples of the artistic work of English book illustrator, Arthur Rackham.Written by British theatre critic and playwright, Annie Berlyn. 'Sunrise-Land' was the result of a commision for Berlyn to paint a picture of the Poppyland region of the UK in words, being the North-East of the Norfolk coastline. Illustrated with one-hundred-and-thirty-six vignettes, seventy-four of which are by Arthur Rackham. Collated, complete. With original advertisements to the front and to the rear. Bound in the publisher's original grey pictorial cloth. Externally, very good, with light bumping to the extremities. Darkening and rubbing to the spine, with the odd mark to cloth. Spine is slightly cocked. Front hinge is a touch strained, with the occasional mark or spot to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, with a small ink mark to the fore edge, not affecting pages. Ink inscription to the verso of the title page. Very Good. book.
