Soft cover. Condizione: Very Good. 1st Edition. Operatic Edition with ukulele accompaniment. Featuring a photographic portrait of Al Jolson from the stage production Bombo. Large-format vintage sheet music, 4 pages, with publisher advertisements to rear for the 'Witmark Black and White Series.' Original 1923 popular song sheet associated with Al Jolson during the height of his Broadway and recording fame. The striking cover combines a blue-tinted photographic portrait of Jolson with stylized orange-and-blue agricultural imagery referencing the song's Southern theme. The interior includes ukulele chord diagrams and accompaniment markings, reflecting the early-1920s ukulele craze in American popular music publishing. Abner Silver and Harry Woods were prolific Tin Pan Alley composers whose collaborations became widely recorded during the interwar years. Woods later composed enduring standards including 'When the Red, Red Robin Comes Bob, Bob, Bobbin' Along.' The interior retains the original publisher's promotional sidebar reading 'Get this song for your Talking Machine and Player Piano,' a notable period advertising feature documenting the early-1920s transition from home sheet-music performance to phonograph records and player-piano entertainment. Condition: Good to Very Good. Complete and fully legible with moderate general handling wear, light edge wear, and mild corner creasing. Interior remains clean with strong paper tone and no major loss to musical notation. Rear cover bright and attractive with light rubbing and minor age toning. A solid collectible example of an early Al Jolson-associated Witmark publication. Edition/printing: first edition/first printing thus, with 1923 copyright date to interior and no evidence of later reprint markings or renewal notices. Al Jolson (1886-1950) was among the most influential entertainers of the early twentieth century, dominating Broadway, vaudeville, and early sound film. His performances helped popularize numerous Tin Pan Alley songs, while M. Witmark & Sons was one of the major American music publishers responsible for disseminating popular standards during the pre-radio and early radio era.
